All wrapped up

The film is finished! Well, actually it was finished a couple of years ago I just never posted that on here, whoops!

If you would like to see it, please go here. Don't worry, it's only 5 minutes long, and Adam Buxton seems to like it!

Also, I am now making my second stop motion film which I am very excited about. Please go here for the blog.

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Stills going

It's been a while, hasn't it? But I'm still here and still making this film– which is now blessedly near completion. I can only say sorry for the distinct lack of posts by giving you these images to look at from the final edit, regarding which, it shouldn't be long now till it's done, just the sound to finalise and the edit to perfect. You'll have to go to a festival it will hopefully be screened at to see it though, as I won't be putting it up on the internet for that reason– festivals don't care for used goods you see.

Oh Happy Day

Though I didn't finish the shot from which the above pic is taken, I can now say that I have officially started shooting– at last! 'My, but isn't it dark!' I hear you say. Yes it is, but bear in mind that there will be some jiggery pokery in After FX before it 'goes to press' and he is, in fact, working in a dark room. My plan is to light the set totally with practicals (on set lighting as apposed to big lights that shine on to the set from outside it) of which there are two: his computer and the film light. If this works for all the shots remains to be seen, but it seems to work well for this one at least. Well, that's me. I will hopefully have this shot in the bag tomorrow, but if I had a pound for every time I'd said that...

Ecce Homo

First post in a while; sorry about that.

Here is the puppet in its near-completed state. His head is a little crinkled, his arms are wrong and he doesn't have a neck, but other than that he's ready to fly. I will be setting up in the studio tomorrow so should hopefully have some shots of the set all nicely lit to show you soon.

Head down

These pics show the development of a mold which will allow me to pop out as many plasticine heads for our hero as needs be when I start filming, and I will need to make a fair few as plasticine loses its shape so quickly.

When the front half of the mold is dry then I will make the back half.on top. When finished I will have the two halves of the mold which I will be able to press together with plasticine inside to produce an almost flawless head.

There's our man

This is the star of the show. I was trying to make him look like a regular guy who wanted to get some animation done. The coloured image looks a tad 'Aardman' and some of the heads are too zany or just plain plain. There's no harm experimenting at the initial design stage though.
